Health Services

In 2003 MONA was instrumental in bringing a 9 year old Guyanese child to the United States for corrective surgery for a severe deformity on both feet.  Through our relationships with physicians and therapists, MONA was able to arrange reconstructive surgery and rehabilitation for the child here in the States before he returned to Guyana.

In addition, MONA has worked with local Guyanese hospital staff to sponsor health fairs, diabetes and high blood pressure screenings and Aids awareness workshops.  We have also distributed medical supplies donated by U.S. hospitals and physicians including wheelchairs, walkers, an e.k.g. machine, infant and adult respirators, bed linens, infant basinets and isolettes for premature babies and diabetes testing supplies.  With support from our donors, we hope to identify and sponsor other children to come to the United States for complicated medical treatments and continue to provide much needed medical supplies.
